Software for the QIL that really works
We sell real world software that does real work on a QL computer, much of
which is tax deductible. There are business, financial and technical
applications. Most operate under one of the PSION programs.
Use any of these programs even if you're scared to death of ARCHIVE* or
ABACUS*., Instructions teach what's really needed but otherwise they are
transparent. All are fully editable for special requirements.
Prices are from $9.95 for QLUTter, a resident boot utility, to $2850.00 for
a site license for CAM MASTER, a friendly CAD program for circular cams
that generates the CNC code to a vertical mill controller. (Get the demo
first; it's only $9.95 and really shows the power of the QL.
Expanded and improved versions of TRUST_FUND 1.3, MAILBAG 2.0 and
QLAND_LORD 1.3 are available for $4.95 with the original medium. There's

TS-—-2068/OQL T1Ps
Here are some tips for the TS2068 that
SMUG has accumulated through the years
that we would like to pass on. The
first ones are for the TS2068 and its
possible the TS1000, TS51500@ and
ZX86-81.
When writing programs be careful when
changing variables. If you have
defined a variable and have run the
job the variable will be there until
you doa CLEAR. Our computer allows
variables to hold their values even
after the variable has been deieted.
In most computers the variables are
dropped Tf the program stops
executing. This means if you change
from a$ to aa$ a$ will still be there
in our computer.
If you want to change the size of a
dimension you can do a run. But if you
want to clear the dimension with out
clearing other variables just
re-dimension the variable. For example
DIM a$(5,1@) sets up a dimension of 5
sets of 10 bytes each. After running
you have data inthe DIM. Just doa
DIM a$(5,1@) in the command mode. All
data will be cleared. If you want to
Reduce the size without runing th
program do a DIM a$(%,0), clearing t
dimension and removing the pena
extents. Now re-dimension
mode and you should nave ae. new siz
available to you.
If you are using ON ERROR, once you
have turned it on it stays on. If you
want to remove it CLEAR the computer
before deleting the line. Then delete
the line using the DELETE command
rather than just typing in the line #.
If you type the line # the variable
table will still contatin'the line #
and the ON ERROR will still execute.
QL tip. When using the IF beware! The
shortend version allows for statements
on the same line as the if. But DO NOT
use an END IF. If using the long
version or an ELSE within the IF you
must use the END IF. When using the
END IF you CAN NOT have more than 1
statement on a line. This includes
having anything on the same line as
the then or else.

I have noticed a few comments in the
newsletters about not receiving any
information from the national. Well we
received the ballot and in October we
received a post card from the National
Public Domain library. We have seen
the Indiana newsletter about Mel being
sick and having to resign but there
has not been any official word. I feel
that the national is a good thing but
I don't understand why nothing is said
Dy those in the know. I am sure all of
us newsletter editors would mention
any word about the national. The only
thing is that it must come from an
officer of SNUG.
One other thing. We got to thinking
about membership. If we get a User
Group membership should each member of
the group also get a membership? This
might be what SNUG is looking for.

PRESIDENTS MESSAGE
The documentation is done and
ordered boards have been shippec.
If anyone has ordered and payed for
a board and has not received it by
Christmas please contact us. The
shipping is being done by U.S. mail
and as we all know sometimes...
I want to thank Dick and Marty for
their help in making this project
work. Dick has been the focal point
of the project. This includes
designing the board, making tne
proto type and keeping track of all
who are interested in the board
Marty acted as the technical
adviser and is building the
complete boards for sale. Marty
also did the excellent job on the
documentation on putting the board
together. There was some minor heip
by Bill and Myself.

The Meeting
Or
This was a good meeting with even two
guests. They were Jay Seal and Nazir
Pashtoon from the Chicago area. They
came to order a digitizer board and
demonstrate the way they use CPM on
the TS2068 with the Zebra drive
system. We were happy to see them and
have their informative talk. Maybe we
have a speaker and subject for the
Computer Expo on Sunday June.Z, 1990.
Marty showed us his digitizer
documentation. He will include it with
all the boards being shipped.
Bill reported on the costs of having T
shirts printed. Gordon informed us
that someone has a form for making T
shirt transfers using the lazer
printer. He will get costs for the
next meeting. If that works out we can
make them to order somewhat.
